Install Downloaded Fonts

If you found a font from a site you have to download it but you aren’t quite sure how to install and begin using it, do the following.

Step 1:

Firstly, Open the Downloads folder in Finder also double-tap the ZIP file for the font. If you store it elsewhere, just locate it and open the ZIP file.

Step 2:

Double-tap the font file. You may also view more than one file in the ZIP, but the font file may have a TTF extension.

Step 3:

Tap Install Font.

And that’s all! You should also be able to begin using that font in apps like Notes, Mail, or Pages.

Make Fonts Available to all Users

If you install and download a font, it’ll be available for your user account by default. But if you like that font available on your PC for all users, not just you, you can then modify a simple setting.

Step 1:

Firstly, Open the Font Book on your Mac from the Applications folder.

Step 2:

Tap Font Book > Preferences from the menu bar.

Step 3:

Modify the selection from User to PC in the drop-down box for Default Install Location.

After that close the Font Book Preferences window.

Download Fonts in the Font Book

The Font Book on your Mac contains tons of fonts for you to use. However, If you like to use an old font, tap the Download button at the top of the Font Book preview window.

Now the font will be ready to use.

Disable Fonts on Mac

If you think there are way too many fonts for you to fish through and you know for some you don’t use particular ones, you can disable them.

Step 1:

At first, open the Font Book from your Applications folder.

Step 2:

Also, select the font you like to disable.

Step 3:

Either tap the Disable selected fonts button in the toolbar. You may also tap Edit > Disable [font name] Family from the menu bar.

Step 4:

Confirm by tapping Disable.

Once you disable a font, it’ll can’t be available in your font list while using an app. But it’s still usable if you like to press that Download button in the Font Book preview to use it again.
