The authors of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice showed a simple stealth and battle with the boss

At the gaming exhibition E3 2018 we were shown a lot of interesting projects, however, the presentation of Microsoft was the most “productive”. It was on it that gamers were first shown by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It’s like Dark Souls, only in the Japanese setting about samurai. The developers promised a complex battle system, a lot of interesting mechanics and an amazing virtual world. At the same event, Sony also showed beautiful product trailers, but no one decided to display full-fledged gameplay. Later the authors of the project told more details, but to see the gameplay was possible only at the exhibition TGS 2018 (Tokyo Game Show).

Employees of the studio FromSoftware, namely they are working on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, together with the publisher Activision showed 12 minutes of real gameplay, shot on the PS4 Pro. This is an important point, which indicates the full availability of the product for the release, although there is still a lot of time before the “sending to gold” (launching of printing on disks) – the game is released on March 22, 2019. Already, the picture looks very attractive, there are no problems with shadows, animations or effects. Probably, on Xbox One X or a powerful PC graphics will be even more attractive.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice

The fans liked the new video, although there are a number of questions to it. Let’s start with the bad, of course. Very strange looks stealth mode, when the character comes to the enemy from the back. In the video, you can see that the enemy stands sideways to the hero and sees him clearly, but does not raise the alarm. Yes, and there is a scene in which two soldiers are walking along the path, we kill one from the back, and the second just goes on, allegedly having heard nothing suspicious. For a hardcore game where a gamer has to think about every move, such punctures seem very strange. Similarly, the enemies react to Lara Croft in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and in fact, she does not even aim at hardcore.

Good, however, much more. The developers promised to change the standard understanding of the complex mechanic when you need to evade enemy attacks and inflict hundreds of strokes in response. Here the price of the error is incredibly high for both the gamer and the opponent.

Literally, one unfortunate unit can become the last one – ordinary enemies die for two blows, our character for three or four. With bosses in general trouble, because they have a lot of combinations and individual attacks. We need to leave the “line of fire“, choose a more advantageous location for a skirmish, manage to drink potions. It looks cool, especially if you like really complicated games.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is released on March 22, 2019, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
