The future Snapdragon 855 for mobile devices will be named SM8150, and Snapdragon 1000 for laptops will be renamed to SCX8180. About the new mobile platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 last time we heard back in March this year when the editor of the German resource WinFuture Roland Quandt (Roland Quandt) reported that the single-chip system will receive the SDX50 5G modem. Now that same Roland Quandt argues that Qualcomm uses a completely different scheme for naming future chipsets to distinguish processors for smartphones and for laptops.
Snapdragon 855, code-named Hana, is likely to hit the market with the model number SM8150. The chipset will for the first time receive a dedicated neural processor (NPU), similar to HiSilicon Kirin 970 from Huawei. This should significantly reduce the load on the main processor and other components of the system when processing data using artificial intelligence algorithms. Image analysis and voice commands will fall on the shoulders of the NPU to improve performance. Nevertheless, Qualcomm, contrary to expectations, will not equip the SM8150 with a 5G modem. Instead, it will have a Snapdragon X24 modem, which supports LT20 LTE data transfer rate up to 2 Gb/s.
Snapdragon 855/8150 can also get a version for automotive systems. This is indicated by references to the model SDM855AU, which will be created on a 7-nm process technology. The new chipset will be the first specialized Qualcomm chip for the automotive industry since the launch of the Snapdragon 820 Automotive platform.
Similar changes will affect the chipset Snapdragon 1000 for laptops and tablets running Windows 10, known under the code name Poipu. It will be renamed to SCX8180, and it will also be produced using 7-nm process technology. WinFuture notes that “SM” in SM8150 can mean Snapdragon Mobile, and SCX in SCX8180 – Snapdragon Computing. A similar scheme will be applied to low-end chipsets as well – some documents mention SM7150 and SM7250 models, which Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 710 may be supposed to be.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (SDM855) “Hana” is now called SM8150.
Qualcomm Snapdragon “1000” (SDM1000) “Poipu” is now called SCX8180.QC seems to be working on a new naming scheme, to separate mobile and PC chips in the future: https://t.co/9iRVi0WE2I

It is expected that Qualcomm will introduce Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 1000 in December this year as part of the annual Tech Summit.
