How to install custom fonts on “Rooted” Android devices?
Rooted smartphones provide you exclusive access to all the parts of the device. Also, you can install any application or Custom ROM of your choice. However, rooting is Advanced action, and it can get your device damaged.
While there are so many things to gain when your device is rooted. The damages caused are much more. Also, your device’s warranty gets voided the very moment you unlock the bootloader and root the smartphone. Also, rooting needs strict carefulness and using the right software tools.
In all, once you’ve not rooted your smartphone before, we suggest you don’t attempt to root it because of installing custom fonts. But, if your device is already rooted, then follow the steps below to install custom fonts.
You can also use iFont on rooted Android mobiles to install custom fonts. Well, it is limited when the device is not rooted. But on root smartphones, it is fully functional to use in changing fonts.
You can also flash fonts zip file into your rooted Android mobile. Or you can copy the .ttf files to a particular folder to install a font file.

Using FontFix Mobile App
As your device has no root access, download the FontFix mobile app and modify your phone’s appearance.
Step 1:
Firstly, move to Playstore or any other apps store.
Step 2:
Then search for FontFix and install the app.
Step 3:
Once the app installed, launch the app and grant permissions.
Step 4:
Also, open the app, and you will view many custom fonts that you can download and install on your device.
Step 5:
Choose the font that you like and tap on “Install.”
Step 6:
After installing the fonts, tap on “Set” to activate.

Custom Download Method on FontFix
However, In the Fontfix app, you will get all the fonts available in Google fonts. Also, if you didn’t view the custom font of your choice on the list. Then you can search the internet and download the .tff font file of the font. This is where you may require a PC to move the .tff file to a particular folder on your rooted device.
Step 1:
Firstly, download the .tff file on your PC and then transfer it to SDcard directory on the rooted device
Step 2:
Now launch FontFix and tap on the “+” icon.
Step 3:
Click on “Select,” then search for the .tff file on your SDcard directory
Step 4:
Choose the .tff file and install it on your device

Also, Grant the SuperSU permissions that may be required.

Using Custom Recovery- TWRP Method
If you have TWRP, you can then flash the Custom font. However, unlike the non-rooted method, the TWRP method doesn’t need any apps. So, It can’t consume extra RAM. Also, you can use this method on Less RAM phones. Before the process, make sure what font your Manufacturer is using. If you can’t find the font, then take a complete backup. There are two steps involved in this process.
Creating Flashable font.zip file
Step 1:
Firstly, download the .tff file on your computer or Mobile. The data should be in .tff format. So, there should be no internal folder.
Step 2:
Also, download the Font Format.zip file.
Step 3:
Now extract the file in Single Folder. Don’t drag and drop the files. In the Downloaded format zip file, you can also find the META-INF and System folder. In the System Folder, you can also find the font folder. Simply, copy your .tff file into that folder.
Step 4:
Now repack the Font Format.zip, including the two folders(META-INF and System.)
Step 5:
Now the Flashable font file is ready. If you process the data using PC, then copy the file to your OTG Pendrive or Mobile SD Card. While using mobile apps, simply copy the file to the device Root Folder. Either Phone Memory or SD Card. Then go to the flash instructions.
Flash font.zip file
- Firstly, insert Your Pendrive with OTG Cable. While having SD Card, you don’t need Pendrive because we store the files in SD Card.
- Also, if you didn’t reboot to recovery using the menu. Then you could use physical keys. Also, boot it into recovery mode->Volume Up + Power Button (press them simultaneously). Based on your mobile device, the combination may vary.
- Now it Will Boot into TWRP Recovery Mode.
- Choose Wipe>Advance Wipe>Choose Cache Data.
- Revert to Home of TWRP choose Install.
- Choose Font Format.zip.
- Once you install, reboot Your Mobile.
- Now you can find the font on your mobile device. If you didn’t like the font format, then flash the stock font, which you already noted. Or save your mobile from backup.
