Pre-Requisites:
- Charge your phone to at least 50%.
- Install Xiaomi USB drivers on PC so as to recognize your phone when connected via USB data cable.
- Also, install the latest ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC.
Download ADB drivers for Redmi 8.
- Backup your contacts, apps, messages, call logs, notes, etc.
Steps to Unlock Bootloader of Redmi 8:
Step 1:
Go to your mobile Settings and open it.
Step 2:
Here launch Mi Account.
Step 3:
Create a new Mi account OR sign in if you already have a Mi account.
Step 4:
After you sign in, enable Sync and Find device options from Mi Cloud.
Step 5:
Open About Phone section.
Step 6:
Now click on the MIUI version 7 times. You’ll see a countdown message saying, “You’re 4,3,2,1 steps away from being a Developer”. Click on the MIUI version until a message saying, ”You are now a developer” appears.
Note: This will enable the hidden developers’ option in the settings.
Step 7:
Then go back to Settings and launch the Additional Settings section.
Step 8:
Here, scroll down and open Developer options.
Step 9:
Then enable the OEM Unlocking option and USB Debugging option.
Step 10:
Now, open the Mi Unlock Status option. You’ll be asked for permission so simply click on Agree.
Note: Make sure that a SIM card is inserted in your mobile. As without it, you won’t be able to go further.
Next, the following screen will popup.
Step 11:
Click on Add account and device option.
Wait until a message saying, “Added successfully. Mi Account is associated with this device now” shows.
Step 12:
Now close everything and power off your Redmi 8.
Note: Boot Redmi 8 into Fastboot mode.
Step 13:
Press and hold the Volume Down key + Power button simultaneously. Then leave both the keys when the fastboot logo appears.
Step 14:
Now Connect it to PC through USB cable.
Step 15:
Note: Do NOT download the latest Mi Unlock Tool from the official Mi website as it’ll take 15-30 days to unlock the bootloader.
Step 16:
Extract the downloaded Mi Unlock Tool on your PC. You’ll see the below files in the extracted folder:
Step 17:
Open miflash_unlock.exe file.
Note: Run it as Administrator.
Step 18:
A disclaimer window will appear. Click on the Agree button. Next, a Sign in the window will popup.
Step 19:
Type in your Username and Password to login to the Mi Account.
Note: If Mi Unlock Tool shows error connection, then again install Xiaomi USB drivers as well as ADB drivers on your PC.
Step 20:
Now let’s begin Redmi 8 bootloader unlock process now. To do so, simply click on the Unlock option. A warning unlock countdown will show on the screen.
Step 21:
To initiate the Redmi 8 unlock bootloader process, click on the red-colored Unlock anyway option. This will start the actual Xiaomi Redmi 8 bootloader unlocking process.
Calm down and wait until the process completes. When it completes, a message saying Unlocked successfully will show on the Mi Unlock Tool.
Step 22:
Now click on Reboot Phone to restart your mobile.
