So, use the backup like this or else use Google Drive to restore text messages and media files to Google Photos. I’ll also explain the steps to do this in the parts below. Text messages, Images, and Documents recovery will not get more than 100-200 MB. Also, if you have lots of messages. Just because when uploading to the cloud, It will compress the files. But, while uploading videos, It will take more storage.

Using iOS devices, You can also use iCloud to make a backup of text messages and Google Photos to restore media files. If you are using paid service and have a lot of storage, you don’t need other option storage ideas.

Automatically Backup WhatsApp Media files using Google Photos (Photos and Videos)

Steps- Android Devices

Step 1:

Firstly, download and Install Google Photos on your Android mobile.

Step 2:

Then open the Google Photos app and choose the hamburger menu.

Step 3:

Now choose Settings> Backup and sync. Then select Back up device folders.

Step 4:

Also, enable WhatsApp Documents, Images, Profile Photos, and Video. That’s all the media files will automatically restore Google Photos.

Steps- iOS Devices

Step 1:

Firstly, download and Install Google Photos on your iOS mobile.

Step 2:

Also, open the Google Photos app and choose the hamburger menu.

Step 3:

Choose Settings> Backup and sync. Allow this option.

Step 4:

Now open WhatsApp>Settings> Chats> Save to Camera Roll. However, all your photos and videos will upload to Google Photos.

Step 5:

You can also disable the video upload to iCloud in WhatsApp> Settings>Chats>Chat Backup> Disable Videos upload.

Upload Unlimited Photos and Videos to Google Photos

By default, your storage will set to Original. It means, your room will be limited when you upload media files. But, remember your photos and videos will store in the original format. When you choose unlimited storage, your media files will be compressed in quality. But, You won’t check the difference unless your data are very high quality (Say 4K).

The default Google Photos setup is the standard quality to upload infinite media files. But, When you find your storage is limited, you can then change the settings in Web view. To do this, Move to Google Photos Web version and Settings. Then Set High Quality.
