A while ago we talked about the Computex 2018 fair in relation to what may be the next release of Samsung with a Snapdragon 850 processor inside. No more data on the matter, contrary to the news that has as protagonist the ASUS brand, which has announced a new model of its range ZenBook Pro.
The ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 UX580GE stands out above all for having an interactive screen technology called ScreenPad. It is a screen that is placed in the space that comes to occupy the traditional trackpad and with the aim of increasing the usability of the device.
A second screen on the trackpad
It is a kind of twist to what they already achieved in Apple with the MacBook Pro Retina and its Touch Bar, a powerful team although the new screen (instead of the classic button) did not offer too many inducements for use.
In this case, it is a 5.5-inch Super IPS + panel in which a Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) is achieved. It allows its use as a touch screen to use in which we also have multi-touch capability. And for the most careless that think about the deterioration with the use, Asus has protected it and made it resistant to fingerprints and smudges.
We can use smart gestures of up to four fingers as if it were a trackpad, but we can also turn the ScreenPad into an interactive screen that can be transformed to access different functions.
We can even have a second screen thanks to the Screen Extender function, with which we can convert the ScreenPad into what would be similar to a second monitor but in miniature.
Regarding other specifications, the new ZenBook Pro includes Intel Core i9 8th generation processors supported by 16 GB of RAM, GeForce GTX1050 Ti graphics with 4GB memory, storage via 1TB SSD.
The 15-inch screen is based on a NanoEdge panel and manages to offer a 4K UHD resolution and is also compatible with the new ASUS Pen, which allows working at angles of up to 45 degrees with different pressure levels.
As for the sound, it includes a speaker system signed by Harman Kardon, which has ASUS SonicMaster audio technology. The autonomy, according to ASUS, stands at 9.5 hours thanks to its 71Wh battery. If necessary, we can charge 60% of the battery in 50 minutes thanks to the Fast Charging charging system.
Regarding the price of this equipment and when it will be available in the market, for now, there is no news about it.
