AdBlock Plus Became a Built-in Ad Blocker in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft released a new beta version of the proprietary browser Edge for Android under the number 42.0.02055, the main innovation in which was the built-in ad blocker. To remove annoying ads from sites, developers chose AdBlock Plus – the most popular service in its category. This was reported by the publication MSPoweruser. Most likely, a stable version of Microsoft Edge with a built-in ad blocker will be released on Google Play very soon.

Apparently, the decision to choose a third-party advertising blocker instead of creating one is the right one. This is clear on the example of Google Chrome: its proprietary development to remove intrusive content from sites can handle only 16% of ads, while AdBlock Plus removes 93% of advertising records.

It would seem that the service from Eyeo is too “aggressive”, but this opinion is mistaken: AdBlock Plus blocks only intrusive advertising, distracting users from comfortable surfing on the Internet – in the spring of 2018 it was recognized by the court of Germany in the case between Eyeo and one of the largest European media conglomerate Axel Springer.

Most likely, versions of the browser Microsoft Edge for other platforms, too, will have a built-in function to block advertising content.
